Tajikistan E-Visa
How Can I Apply for a Tajikistan E-Visa?
Who is Eligible for a Tajikistan E-Visa?

There can be some confusion surrounding the Tajikistan visa.

In January 2016, Tajikistan introduced their new electronic visas or E Visa. Before this, it was required that most travellers apply for what was commonly called a letter of invitation (LOI) these would famously on occasion be issued wrong with incorrect names and passport numbers.

The new E visa system is a great way to do away with some of these errors, although at its inception it has had a few problems.

Still, these are slowly being ironed out.

When using the system, make sure that you thoroughly check your visa when issued.

The E Visa system allows foreign citizens who want to visit the country for tourism purposes to complete an electronic application and receive an electronic visa without visiting a consulate. They no longer need to deal with the rigmarole of obtaining a letter of invitation and the long line at immigration upon arrival into the country.

The E Visa application takes around 10 – 15 minutes if you are prepared for the process. You will normally be informed of the application status by email.

How Can I Apply for a Tajikistan E-Visa?

The process is relatively simple, should you have any problems during your application we can try our best to help.

There are three simple steps:

  1. 1.) The first step is to begin the application process by filling in your details name, address, e-mail address, date of birth, etc. Some details regarding your trip are also necessary.

You will be asked for your hotel address, we will provide this. You will also be asked for a group identifier. When travelling with a tour company the local agent will have a group code that needs to be submitted this is especially important if travelling to sensitive areas.

Note: At some point you will need to select the type of visa you require this is important as there are in effect two types as a tourist.  GBAO permit is more expensive (70 USD) and only needed if you are to travel to the Pamir’s section of the country. If you are travelling on a tour to any other region you will not need this and a visa will cost around 30-40 USD.

2.) The second step requires you to make your payment so have your credit card ready for this.

3.) The third and final step requires you to upload a copy of your passport’s information page, as well as a passport-style photo.

Note: once your visa is issued you must print this document ready for your entry in Tajikistan. In the top corner, there will be a photo area do not be surprised if your photo is not there and it is just a black silhouette this is normally common especially for your first visit.
