Hotels of the North
Korea: The Rakrang
Hotel, First Look

Finally a hotel south of the Taedong!

Below are some photos of the Rakrang Hotel, named after Pyongyang's southern district. The hotel is located on the banks of the Taedong River, across from Pyongyang's island-based Science and Technology Centre and north of Tongil Street. As a former resident of Rakrang District, I am partial to the area.

The sparkling new lobby with its prerequisite world map clock.

No hotel is complete without a nautical themed bar. Outside the window, Pyongyang's Science and Technology Centre.

A hotel room (or karaoke room with refrigerator?) and its interior decor not unlike a modern Pyongyang apartment building.

Modernity!

A hotel room with neo-tradtional sliding door and futuristic displays (cf. bridge of the USS Enterprise in Star Trek: The Original Series - see below for 8 hours of TOS Bridge Ambience).

Space-age living at Pyongyang's Rakrang Hotel.

A double room with floral paintings and landscapes.

Hotels of the DPRK Award: Best hotel south of the Taedong in Pyongyang.

The hotel is not yet open to foreign tourists as of November 2017.
