2021 Pyongyang Marathon News Release - Tours Now Available

It’s time to lace up your running shoes and start training as the 2021 Pyongyang Marathon is expected to be on Sunday 11th April and tours are now available to book!

Koryo Tours is the official event partner of the Pyongyang Marathon, and we’re excited to bring you tours for the 2021 Pyongyang Marathon which feature new tour options and some exciting new tour itineraries.

We have the following tours available for the 2021 Pyongyang Marathon;

Shanghai Departure

• Pyongyang Marathon | Weekend Tour from Shanghai – an action packed weekend tour
• Pyongyang Marathon | Long Tour from Shanghai – a full week in North Korea including Day of the Sun celebrations and the only marathon tour to feature a cycling tour of Pyongyang

Shenyang Departure

• Pyongyang Marathon | Tour from Shenyang – a 4-night tour making use of the cheaper Air Koryo flight from Shenyang, a city in North East China with excellent international connections

Beijing Departure

• Pyongyang Marathon | 2 Night Tour – the shortest tour possible
• Pyongyang Marathon | Long Weekend 3 Night Tour – tour Pyongyang and run the marathon (Friday-Monday)
• Pyongyang Marathon | 3 Night Tour – run the marathon and tour Pyongyang (Saturday – Tuesday)

Budget Tours

All of our budget tours include entering and exiting by train from Dandong, but can be upgraded to depart from Beijing if you prefer.

• Pyongyang Marathon | Budget 3 Night Tour – the cheapest 3 night/4 day marathon tour available
• Pyongyang Marathon | Budget 4 Night Tour – the cheapest 4 night/5 day marathon tour and includes visiting Kaesong and the DMZ

The marathon will again follow the same excellent route through Pyongyang as before which take in many of the key sites of Pyongyang, and it will start and finish inside Kim Il Sung Stadium which will be full of 50,000 North Koreans cheering you on!

We were disappointed with the cancellation of this year’s marathon, but we think the 2021 Pyongyang Marathon and tours may just be the best yet! 

Koryo Tours has also arranged early morning runs for all of our tours so you can have a pre-marathon warm up jog in Pyongyang to help your preparation, excluding tours that enter North Korea on Saturday the day before the marathon.

Bookings can be made in the interim without a deposit so you can secure your place in one of the biggest events of the year in North Korea. We will let you know when the time comes to pay your deposit.
