Depends on your nationality. Over 30 nationalities can visit Iran visa-free, however this does not include the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, or the European Union. Many nationalities are eligible for an e-Visa, however some are subject to additional requirements and are obliged to visit only as part of an organised tour with a registered company. As regulations are subject to change, it’s best to consult with your travel company or the Iranian embassy in your country.

The best seasons for travel to Iran are Spring and Autumn. Typically, trips between March and May, and then latterly September to November avoid the high heat of summer, especially in the deserts and Persian Gulf regions, whilst winters tend to bring snow to the mountainous regions which can cause issues with travel. However, depending on your travel plans, any time of year can be practical.

Iran generally experiences low-levels of violent crime, especially against tourists and foreigners, with many people describing locals as warm, friendly and hospitable. Travellers should remain aware of local laws and customs, which can often be more strictly conservative than in many countries. The political situation between Iran and foreign countries is also subject to change.

The official language of Iran is Farsi which is spoken throughout the country. There are also many regional languages and dialects present nationwide including Azerbaijani Turkish, Kurdish, Baluchi, Arabic, and Turkmen.
 

The official currency is the Iranian Rial (IRR), although prices are often quoted in Tomas, which one Toman being equal to ten Rials. International credit or debit cards often will not work in Iran due to sanctions, so travellers should bring sufficient cash (USD or EUR) to exchange upon arrival.
