  • Overall

Looking for a short break to spend your holidays in May? Visit North Korea from Shanghai for the May Day Holiday, one of our favorite times to visit the country.

Also known as International Workers’ Day or Labour Day, May Day is a day off and locals take to the outdoors for picnics, dancing, and sports. In Pyongyang, there is an annual festival with musical performances and traditional folk games. Spring is in the air and May Day offers a good chance to meet the locals and learn about everyday leisure in North Korea.

We'll take a day trip to visit historic Kaesong and the DMZ, at the North-South Korean border.

Plus, we’ll have an exclusive chance to have a friendly (but competitive!) volleyball game against a Korean company team. Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in North Korea and almost every company, school, office, section, or unit has a team! Enjoy taking part in this important part of Korean culture with the locals by spending your holidays in May in North Korea!

Fancy heading out of town and exploring more of North Korea? Head to the seaside for our May Day and East Coast Tour (departing from Beijing).
