Beijing Celtic tour testimonies

It was only when the young Korean guy put the first goal past me that the realisation truly hit me: I was in North Korea, playing football, and having a great time! I believe that Koryo Tours helps foster understanding between DPRK and the outside world in a very effective way, and I was proud to be a part of the DHL Beijing Celtic Friendship Football Tour. Criticising a country without understanding it is no way to resolve our differences. We sang, drank, talked and played football with the North Koreans and left with a better understanding of their culture, their hopes and their fears. In fact, we got two for the price of one - laughing and singing with the Iranians in Kim Il Sung stadium during the DPRK - Iran international match ridiculed the whole idea of an 'Axis of Evil'. A real solution may be a long way off, but as long as Koryo Tours (and Beijing Celtic!) is around there's still hope. Here's to next year! (Michael Jennings, Goalkeeper - his report)
